The tiny house movement is a up and coming social movement that promotes living in homes smaller than 1,000 square feet. Tiny houses are becoming extremely popular in the United States. They are a great way to be sustainable and save money at the same time. Most tiny houses are off the grid without any plumbing and often powered by solar. Tiny houses are built in a variety of ways. Some people build them out of shipping containers while other people use things like trailers. Here is an example of a woman who has built a 160 square foot home out of a 8’x20′ double axle trailer. This particular tiny house was built for just $16,000, but some can be built for as little as $3,000.
One of the most difficult parts of building a tiny house is finding out where to put them. Unfortunately, when living in tiny house, you may run into specific zoning regulations and building codes that require a minimum square footage. While it is a one of the more difficult parts of building a tiny home, the size is also one of the largest benefits. Small houses that it can be placed on very small lots. Many people are purchasing very cheap secluded property to build their tiny house on. Once your tiny house is built, you can then focus on being even more sustainable with a permaculture garden and raising your own livestock.
